For irritation, apply dental wax to problem areas. Brush at least twice daily, checking for food particles. Parents should monitor children's brushing to ensure thorough cleaning.

Most soreness lasts only a few days and usually doesn’t require medication. If needed, take a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory like Advil or Motrin, unless advised otherwise by your physician.
