Can I take my child to the ER for a dental emergency?

No. Hospitals are unable to provide dental care. However, in certain circumstances, they may be able to provide medication to ease the pain.

Should I be concerned if my child’s jaw is swelling?

Absolutely. When an infection is present, your child needs to be seen by the dentist. Swelling of the face, neck, or cheeks may be a sign that tooth infection is spreading – and you will want to have it addressed as soon as possible. 

Is a cracked tooth a dental emergency?

Anytime a tooth has suffered trauma it is important to have it addressed as soon as possible with an appointment. If your child is in pain or the crack reaches the gumline, this could become an emergency.
